Access, features and limits
Who can use your bot, what it can do for them, and the daily caps that keep its spending where you want it.
Who can use it#
| Access | Who gets in |
|---|---|
| Anyone who messages the bot | Everyone. Pair it with daily caps. |
| Members of groups the bot is in | In a group, its members. In a private chat, people who are a member of at least one group the bot is in (checked with Telegram each time; a membership Telegram will not confirm counts as no). |
| Only people on a list | Telegram user ids or @usernames you enter. Ids are permanent; usernames can change hands. |
| Group admins only | The admins of a group, inside that group. Private chats are refused. |
In a group the bot only acts when addressed: a command, a mention of its @username, or a reply to it. Everything else in the group is ignored and costs nothing. Someone who is refused is told plainly that the bot is not open to them.
What it can do#
| People can | Details |
|---|---|
| Send footage | Videos, photos and audio up to Telegram's 20 MB bot download limit, including albums. Footage lands in their own project, with one-tap buttons to move it to a new project or back. |
| Edit by describing it | The same editing agent as Vidmoat's own bot, limited to editing tools: cutting, titles, layout, colour, audio, analysis, stock footage, previews. |
| Captions | Transcription and caption styles, when Captions is on. |
| AI generation | Images, video, music and voice, when you turn it on and your plan includes it. |
| Export | Render and receive the video in the chat, when Exports is on. |
/new, /reset, /stop, /status, /help | Start a project, clear the conversation, stop work, see if something is running, and help. |
They cannot buy credits or see a balance, see plans or upgrades, create API keys, open workspaces, list anybody else's projects, publish to social accounts, use anybody else's plugins, book a human editor, or be invited to the Vidmoat community. The agent is given an allowlist of tools in code; anything else is refused even if the model asks for it.
Four switches turn parts off: editing by chat (off: the bot only collects footage), captions, AI generation (off by default) and exports. Uploads and generation go through the same moderation as everywhere else on Vidmoat.
Limits and billing#
Each person's actions are charged to your credits at the normal prices (an editing turn is 5, a transcription 10, and so on), recorded against this app. The usage dashboard keeps them apart from your own editor use, and the Telegram tab shows each person's spend today and over 30 days.
- Daily credits per person and daily credits for the whole bot, reset at midnight UTC and counted net of refunds. They are checked before any work starts and again inside each charge, so concurrent work cannot squeeze past them.
- A burst limit per person: 12 messages a minute (3 if we throttle the app).
- When your balance cannot cover the next turn, the bot says it is unavailable right now. It never mentions your balance, credits or prices to your users.
Exports follow your plan's export limits, counted for each person separately. Projects follow your plan's project limit per person.
